In 1968, Ford introduced the Torino as part of its intermediate lineup, designed to blend performance, style, and everyday drivability. The Torino quickly earned its place among American muscle icons, offering buyers the chance to step up from the Fairlane with a sleeker fastback profile and a more performance-focused image.

This particular example represents one of the most desirable configurations of that year — an S-Code 390 GT. The S-Code denoted Ford’s potent 390 cubic-inch FE big-block V8, factory-rated at 325 horsepower. Known for its deep torque curve and impressive straight-line performance, the 390 was a favorite among enthusiasts looking for a car that could hold its own on the street or the strip.

The Gulfstream Aqua exterior finish — a vibrant and unmistakable turquoise-blue — perfectly captures the late-1960s styling trend toward bold, expressive colors. When paired with the fastback “SportsRoof” body, it gives the car a striking and sporty presence that remains timeless today.

1968 was also a pivotal year for Ford’s intermediate performance cars. The Torino GT offered standard bucket seats, unique badging, and performance-oriented trim, while available options like power front disc brakes, heavy-duty suspension, and upgraded transmissions made it more than just a pretty face.

Today, a 1968 Torino GT with the S-Code 390 is a highly collectible piece of American muscle car history — a blend of power, style, and rarity that stands apart from the crowd of more common nameplates. Its elegant Gulfstream Aqua paint makes it even more special, turning heads just as it did when it rolled off the assembly line.
